2023 Winter Skincare and Makeup Trends

The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a winter wonderland for us this coming season. With the cooler temperatures, comes the possibility of wrinkles becoming more noticeable and dry, itchy skin. Rather than treat the symptoms of cold weather, let’s get ahead of it this winter season! We’re sharing 2023’s biggest skincare and makeup trends that are going to combat those cold temperatures and make the most of winter style.

Skincare As Makeup

This one shouldn’t be a surprise with the spread of no-makeup makeup looks. There’s been an influx in products that blur the lines of makeup and skincare, like Urban Decay's tinted foundation that packs in marula oil and kombucha filtrate to moisturize and detoxify, or Tower 28’s bronzer with tea tree extract. These products span every aspect of your makeup routine. Tip: use a tinted moisturizer if you’re looking for a little extra moisture while also covering up small blemishes.

A Little Extra Glow

During the winter, sometimes our skin loses that glow our skin gets from the Summer sun, and our skin can begin looking dull. Self-tanner isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but if it is, try out a bronzing facial mist. For those who want a glow without a tanner, try out bronzing and blush products in warm shades that match your skin shade. Brands like Drunk Elephant and iNNBEAUTY PROJECT have bronzing products with skincare mixed in. You’ll be getting back that summer glow in no time.

Protect Your Barrier

The winter weather can be especially harsh on your skin barrier. If you don’t protect it, this can lead to water loss and early aging. Protecting your skin barrier is super easy: moisturize and apply sunscreen. While you might think you don’t need sunscreen during the winter, it’s not the case. While the sun’s rays don’t feel as strong, they are. Remember to also protect your hands and lips in cold weather. Opt for lip products with lots of moisture, gloves, and hand cream to keep your hands and lips from cracking in cold weather.
