Met Gala 2025: A Night of Tailored Elegance and Black Style Reimagined
The 2025 Met Gala is set to dazzle tonight, May 5th, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year’s theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” pays homage to the history and cultural significance of Black dandyism. Inspired by Dr. Monica L. Miller’s work, Slaves to Fashion, the accompanying exhibit dives into the evolution of Black style and identity throughout the Atlantic diaspora.
Theme & Dress Code: “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”
The exhibition at the Met explores over 300 years of Black fashion, spotlighting Black dandyism as a central piece. The exhibition is divided into 12 semantic sections, including Ownership, Freedom, and Beauty. This will be the Costume Institute’s first menswear-focused theme since 2003.
The dress code, “Tailored for You,” encourages attendees to showcase their individuality through impeccable tailoring. Guests are encouraged to interpret the theme in ways that resonate with their identity.
Hosts & Attendees
This year’s gala is co-chaired by fashion & cultural icons: Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour. LeBron James will serve as an honorary co-chair for the night.
The host committee ranges in diverse talents, from Olympian Simone Biles to director Spike Lee, singer Janella Monáe, and more. Like every year, the official guest list is under wraps, but most expect to see appearances by Rihanna, Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, and the Kardashians. Considering who was seen at the pre-Met Gala party this past weekend, Sabrina Carpenter, Anne Hathaway, Priyanka Chopra, Lupita Nyong’o, Hunter Schafer, Nicky Hilton, and Darren Criss will most likely also be in attendance this evening.
How to Watch
You can catch all the red carpet action live at 6:00 PM EST/ 3:00 PM PST. The event will be streamed on Vogue.com, Vogue’s YouTube channel, and other digital platforms. Hosting duties will be handled by Teyanna Taylor, La La Anthony, Ego Nwodim, and Emma Chamberlain.
