After being shut down for over a year due to Covid, Broadway stars shone brighter than ever in this year’s Tony awards. The awards were held in the Winter Garden Theater in New York City and was hosted by Leslie Odom Jr. and Audra McDonald. Stars walked down the red carpet with some fabulous looks, complete with glitter, sequins, and many more extravagant styles. Here at StyldLife, we wanted to highlight the looks that caught our eyes! Welcome to StyldLide Standouts: 2021 Tony’s Edition.
Most Fashion Conscious: Andrew Garfield & Jeremy Pope

Both men followed the trend of monochromatic looks on this year’s red carpet. This style has been featured in various fashion avenues, like the recent Bottega Veneta launch which we featured in our fall trends blog. Garfield wore a muted, brown, Burberry suit. The brown suit brought in a sense of elegance, while still standing out from the rest of his peers who wore the signature navy or black suits. Jeremy Pope took the monochrome look to the next level. In his bright pink Louis Vuitton ensemble, he caught everyone’s attention. The turtleneck that he wore under the coat really brought the look together. Pope mixed the two most anticipated trends into one look— the bold and the monochrome!
Most Distinct: Lauren Patten & Ruthie Ann Miles

These two looks were definite standouts from the night for very different reasons. Patten walked down the carpet wearing a vertical striped, black and white coat on top of black leggings, with a matching striped tie. The outfit was a bit out of the box compared to the typical looks we tend to associate with red carpet events, which made Patten stand out from the crowd! Miles made an appearance on the red carpet after the tragedy that took the life of her 5-year-old daughter three years ago. She wore a traditional Korean hanbok, consisting of a floral cummerbund, purple top, and a long, flowy white skirt. Miles walked down the carpet with grace and beauty.
Most Elegant: Audra McDonald & Daphne Rubin-Vega

Auda McDonald, one of the hosts for this year's event, looked breathtaking in an black fitted gown, accessorized with a selection of sparkling silver jewelry. As the host, people expected a lot from McDonald’s red carpet look, and it’s safe to say that she did not disappoint. She was the perfect embodiment of elegance. Vega took a similar approach with the floor length gown, opting for an ivory colored dress. She accessorized with teal earrings and rings and slicked her hair back into a high bun. The look was the perfect mix of elegance and sexiness.
Best Dressed: Joaquina Kalukango

Tony nominee Joaquina Kalukango looked amazing in a sparkly, fringe, purple gown. The look was exquisite. She looked so incredible in her ensemble. The silver dangly earrings framed her face perfectly, especially with her hair slicked back in a high bun, without making the look too busy with the already flashy details of the dress. When she walked down the carpet, all eyes were on her. If it were up to us here at StyldLife, she would get an award for this look alone.
