Our NYC Bridal Fashion Week Takeaways

New York Bridal Fashion Week happened during the first week of April. We’re doing a deep dive into everything we took away from it. From fluffy princess dresses to floral and lace appliqués, to extravagant headpieces. We’re breaking it down for you!

Transformative Pieces

This year, we saw multiple pieces that were transformed before our eyes. Entire skirts were removed to create bridal jumpsuits that looked like Elvis met bridal, gloves and neckpieces removed to simplify gowns, and tiers and trains of tulle removed.

Sheer

The amount of upscale sheer gowns were far more than ever before. There were full sheer gowns, sheer sleeves and high neck pieces that could be removed, sheer side panels, and sheer bedazzled full gowns that had peek-a-boo moments with every swish and spin.

Playful Touches

Whimsy was in the air. Ruffles of every type were on display. Tiers of ruffles like cakes, ruffle trims, and waves of ruffle to create added shaping around the hips. Bow. We’re spotted large and small. Whether you wanted small details of tiny bows that ran down the entire back of a dress or a large statement bow, there were plenty of options.

Drop Waists

This one isn’t for everyone, but if you can pull it off, a drop waist can create a princess moment for your special day. There were plenty of drop and basque waists that ranged from dramatic to subtle, with a sash or ribbon to define the waist more classically. This detail was both simple and dramatic.

We also spotted trains galore, fanciful hats to create dramatic looks, and floral appliqués that looked straight out of a fairy tale. Remember, our stylists are always in the know about new trends for each season and can help you shop the trends with Personal Shopping, Special Event Shopping, Shop the Sales, or Shop Early Access Designer fashion sessions.
